Composite and Porcelain Veneers
in Burwood

Woman smiling in dental chairVeneers are custom-made thin “shells” of porcelain or composite applied to the front of your natural teeth. They are often used to change the shape or colour of the tooth, close gaps between teeth, cover worn or chipped teeth, and rebuild enamel lost through acid wear. Veneers may be the quickest and easiest way to give you an attractive-looking smile.

When to Get Veneers

There are many reasons why you may want to consider cosmetic veneers. The shells made of tooth-coloured material are bonded to the front of the teeth, immediately changing their colour shape, size or length.

There are several ways veneers could help improve your smile’s aesthetics. If you feel self-conscious about the way your smile looks because of tooth shape, size or colour, veneers are extremely helpful. We invite you to speak to our dental team, who can provide you with recommendations that suit your particular circumstances.

What Is the Procedure Like?

Getting veneers usually involves three or more trips to our office. Your process always starts with the initial consultation visit, where you and our dentist talk through what you want to achieve. We will also determine if your teeth are suitable for veneers. At that point, we will explain the procedure, potentially take some X-rays, and explain any limitations you might face.

The next step is preparing your tooth or teeth for veneers, which involves reshaping the tooth’s surface and creating a model to construct the right sized veneers. After the veneers have arrived, we will bond them into place and examine the fit, then polish everything nicely.

If you’re getting composite veneers, only one appointment is necessary to shape and bond them to your tooth.
